About Us

Bappco Ltd is a business owned and run by Anne and Andew Lucas. The family has a long history in polycarbonate going back to the early 1970’s when Fred Lucas and his company Stereon Ltd began selling plastic sheeting to businesses around Britain. His vision was to provide competitively priced products in a form that customers actually wanted. For example, before he entered the market companies and individuals would have to buy 6m x 2.1m sheets of polycarbonate and cut them themselves. Fred changed this and brought in specialist cutting machines that allowed them to supply customers with cut to size sheets in a range of widths.

Stereon also became the first company to offer the ability to cut shapes, as well as stocking different sheet thicknesses and colours. It was also heavily involved in the growth in the number of conservatories sold in the 1980’s and 90s.

Further developments came when Fred’s son Andrew joined the business back in 1994 and was involved in the design and manufacture of a range of Glazing Bars and accessories to make the fitting of polycarbonate much simpler. From there they developed a canopy system and even a polycarbonate greenhouse.

Anne joined the family firm in 2007 and went on to run the school canopy area which manufactured and fitted canopies in this busy sector. In 2009 Andrew and Anne saw the growth of the internet and an e-commerce business was formed.

This originally had two websites, theglazingshop.co.uk and thecanopyshop.co.uk.

Theglazingshop.co.uk started selling cut to size polycarbonate and glazing bars to end users and small businesses allowing customers to get pre-cut sheets and bars delivered directly to their home removing their need to visit their local DIY superstore or merchant. As time went by new products were added such as Corrugated PVC, Solid Polycarbonate and a range of GRP and Glass Door Canopies.

Thecanopyshop.co.uk website focussed on the sale of prefabricated canopies and carports to the end user and has expanded its range to include Verandas, Door canopies and Porticos.

In 2015 Bappco purchased the website ecoease.co.uk to add a first-class secondary glazing system to their range. This is manufactured in house and delivered to homes and businesses throughout the UK.

Over the years Andrew and Anne have extended and modified the product range and the way products are sold to suit changing demand. They are both still working in the business, and have a dedicated team including Lisa, Danielle , Andrea, Munir and Katie that have each worked with them for between 8 and 21 years.
