GRP Door canopy FAQs

Below are some frquently asked qusetions regarding GRP front door canopies:

What is GRP?

GRP stands for ‘Glass Reinforced Plastic.’ This is a strong composite material of plastic resin which is reinforced with glass fibres.

Why is GRP good for front door canopies?

This is widely used in construction of external products for its strength and durability. It is also a molded product which can achieve a detailed attractive finish whilst being resistant to weather and corrosion.

Is a GRP canopy expensive?

A GRP canopy is often a cost effective solution. It is much cheaper than a traditional porch and is easier to install. It can often be fitted on a DIY basis but if a tradesman is required to fit it, it is a quick and easy job. There are some cheaper options available but this offers a good mix of value and style.

Are there many designs of front door canopies in GRP

Because GRP is strong and can be molded, a wide range of styles and designs can be achieved. Flat roofs or apex designs, fancy and detailed or plain and classic, there are over 25 GRP canopy designs available. There are also a range of bracket designs to customise the look further.

Are GRP front door canopies hard to maintain?

GRP is a very durable material and will not suffer from rot or corrosion. A simple wipe down with a mild soapy solution will clean the canopy and keep it looking great for many years.

Do I have to have brackets with my canopy?

The canopies on our site that have a projection of less than 1000mm do not need brackets for support. The brackets can be added for aesthetic purposes. Some canopies look better with brackets like the City or the Elite. Others like the Cherwell are often preferred without.  It is your personal choice as to the look you want to achieve. If the canopy is very wide at over 3000mm, gallows brackets are also recommended.
