These high quality self-adhesive white magnetic secondary glazing tapes are suited to white framed windows. They offer an alternative to the white magnetic edging strips. Especially good where space for attachment is limited as these tapes are only 12mm wide. They are supplied in 15m rolls. There are 2 rolls per pack. One magnetic tape and one with a steel core. The magnetic tape attaches to the PET glazing panel and the steel one to the window frame.
Details of how to use them with our 3mm solid polycarbonate secondary glazing sheets is as follows:
The Economy glaze self-adhesive tapes come in two types. One is a brown magnetic tape with a white foam backing - this white side shows through the sheet. The other is a white steel tape, again with a foam backing. Both are easily cut with scissors. Be careful when you cut the steel tape as it can be sharp. The adhesive side of the magnetic tapes are covered by a removable film.
Peel back all four edges of the protective film on your sheet by 50mm.
Removing the film backing on the brown magnetic tape as you go, fit it to the outer edges of the sheet. Cut the tape ends squarely and butt them up to each other so that there is a continuous strip of tape around the edge of the sheet. Do not overlap the tape as a uniform thickness is needed to achieve a good seal to your window frame.
Cut four pieces of the white steel tape and place these on top of the magnetic tapes covering the joins at the corners of the magnetic tapes. These will now be held together by magnetic attraction.
Degrease your window frame with methylated spirit or a similar degreaser to give a good surface to adhere to.
Slowly remove the surface protection film from the side of the sheet with the magnetic tapes. Don’t do it quickly or it will create static and attract dust.
Now remove the adhesive backing from the steel tape.
Line up your panel with your window frame.
When it is in place apply light pressure to stick it to the frame. Now press around the edges applying as much pressure as you can to properly activate the adhesive.
Now you can remove the protective film from the room side of the sheet. Again, do this slowly to minimise static electricity. .
